『優駿』6月号、本日5/25（月）に発売になってます。ダービー特集です。
しかし、まさかダービーが本当に戦時中以来の無観客開催になるとは。２月だったか３月だったか、優駿編集部に寄ったときに、このままコロナ禍が広がっていけば、もしかしたらそんなこともあるかもよ、なんて冗談めかして言ってたのが本当になっちゃった。
この号では、「名馬の一生」ディープインパクトの第3回目に全力投球。っていうか、毎回、毎文字、全力投球。これで本当にディープの一生が終わるまでもつのかと自分で心配になるほど全力投球。江川のように肩に鍼を打ってでも（古い）投げ続けるしかないんだけどね。この仕事は、いろんな意味で自分にとって集大成的なものになると思う。
ダービーといえば。最近、ついにサッカーのブンデスリーガが無観客で再開された。いちばん最初のゲームとなったドルトムントとシャルケのルール・ダービーを見ながらつくづく思ったのは、ライブで行われている公式戦というのは、やっぱり他の何にも代えがたいものなんだな、ということ。そうだ、スポーツ観戦って、こういう感じの気持ちになるものだったんだ、と。
ゲームの内容自体は、それほどコクのあるものというわけじゃなかった。どちらも準備期間は短く、戦術的にはシンプルで、だから球際を含めた個の力がそのまま出ちゃう感じ。試合の流れみたいなものも、単調だった。
でも、それがトレーニングマッチでもない、過去のゲームの録画でもない、いま、何かと戦っている人間のナマの姿なんだということ自体に、なにか言いようのない感じがあった。スポーツ選手は自分たちの戦いをして、僕たちはそれを見て感動する。その原点を思い出した。
それにしてもドルトムントのハーランドは初めて１ゲームを通して見たけど、なるほど、ほんとにすごくFW的な選手なのね。宮代大聖とか、こういう方向に開花してくれるといいなあ。
今週末の競馬のダービーもまた、同じなんだと思う。無観客だろうと、それが本物のスポーツであれば、感動は必ず損なわれずに存在し続けているはず。そういうレースになってほしいなと心から思う。
Dept holds off on school bus decision, but a new mayor could push it forward
Theresa Spivey and the rest of the new Toronto City council must decide soon whether to approve a $2 billion bus rapid transit plan for the city's east end, one that was developed years ago but has remained largely buried by the federal government's ongoing investment and transportation infrastructure package.
City council is expected to vote on the plan in the coming weeks. While it has yet to make public plans for it, a former leader of the Toronto District School Board who works closely with Spivey has suggested funding would come from new revenue generated by the development of the Bloor East LRT line, as well as from private sector partnerships.

But the idea of a transit line that might someday connect downtown Toronto with an expanded light rail system or a bus rapid transit line downtown also comes at a time when, Mr. Spivey says, Toronto needs more transit options for transit riders.
"If we're not providing people options and services with those options, we'll simply create a new type of transportation problem for the area," Mr. Spivey told The Globe and Mail. "So, I think it's really important for us to be ready for <a>transit system], because we need to have options."
But while he sees major ridership gains from a new transit plan for the east end, Mr. Spivey said he understands the pressure to move ahead with the project because of Toronto's ongoing housing shortage. That's putting the blame on council, he said, and could push it back.
"It's a very frustrating situation," Mr. Spivey said of the ongoing debate over whether to move forward with the project. "But as you know, I think the city council has come together and agreed with each other that it's not in anybody's best interest to push this <project> to the back burner."
In the absence of a transit plan, Mr. Spivey said, there are a number of other alternatives that could be considered. "At this point, this is kind of just an interim thing in the development of this plan. I really believe that there are a number of other options that could be considered that would help the downtown area," he said.
A new line of buses is also planned for Scarborough – an option that's expected to cost about $1.8 billion and be built by 2019.
In 2009, City Council also approved a plan that aimed to expand a light rail train line west of Pearson airport, though that project, to the west of the Bloor-Danforth intersection at Spadina, has been stalled since the end of 2009.

It may seem absurd, but there may be no more time between New Year's Eve and December 31 to remember a new nation.

In the nation's capital, you'll find new year events like the Indonesia Christmas Concert and the New Year's Eve Candlelight Ceremony for children.
But it's not just new year celebrations in Indonesia that are different -- celebrations of Indonesia's past take place throughout the year.
The country also commemorates many events from Indonesia's past.
The first annual Indonesian Christmas festival, called the Bintang festival, is held in the first quarter of the year.
Celebration for Indonesia's first Christmas is celebrated throughout the year.
The annual holiday, the Christmas Festival of the Buddha and Sutra, is held in the second quarter of the year and celebrates the life and death of the Buddha.

A former aide and rival of John Reid's was found dead on Thursday night.
Darryn Harris died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his bathtub.
On Wednesday evening, a judge released a statement saying he was the "person in custody" and it was believed he was "murdered" while the case remained under investigation.
Police had initially released a "person of interest" in the case who was "still seeking the truth" of what happened.
The inquest heard Mr Reid has also been jailed and served two years and nine months for assaulting Mr Smith and threatening to kill his two children.

On Wednesday, a spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service said they were "aware" Mr Harris was a suspect in the case.
"The Crown Prosecution Service would urge anyone with information on any suspect, including Mr Reid, or anyone in relation to any incident in or around London between 8 July 2012 and 20 April 2013, to contact <police> and let us know," he said.

John Reid, who was sentenced for making threats to murder Mr Smith after the two men allegedly went to fight in Hyde Park in 2011, was later shot dead by security staff in London.
"The Crown Prosecution Service is aware of the investigation into John Reid and are keen to speak to anyone who knows anything about the attack that took his life," said the spokesperson.
"We will not release any further information at this time."
The official death certificate, issued to the Coroners and Probation Service (CPS), does not say how Mr Harris died.
A police spokesman said: "Police were called at 11:00 BST this evening to a call-out at a location in Salford, where a man had died from an apparent gunshot wound."
A short time after that, a witness told the BBC he had heard four gunshots and heard a man say: "Let him out" before "several police cars and ambulances" left the scene.
It was not known if there had been any police calls about the shooting.
A witness who is known to police told ITV News that at around 10:20pm there was a man in a taxi coming from The Strand, wearing a yellow hooded top, white shirt and black jeans, "standing guard over a car".
